About Us
My
husband and I moved to Oregon in 2004, and purchased a log home kit and
46 acres of weeds. We moved the manufactured home that had been on the
property to the other end of the property to avail ourselves of the fabulous
view and to be closer to the irrigation canal and future pastures. Without
water rights and irrigation, pastures wither and disappear during the summer
and autumn months, but because of irrigation, we have year-round pastures that
the alpacas enjoy immensely. This also means that we have room for agisted
animals, and we do not have to buy much hay for any of our animals.
We have worked tirelessly for the last three years and have built a log home, barns, pastures with irrigation, and the beginnings of a great alpaca herd. We have cleared some of our weeds and in another few years may have yet more room for pastures.
We belong to the Ideal Alpaca Community and are engaged in trying to build a
herd worthy of the name. We have two, soon to be three, girls bred to
Studmasters Males.
We invite you to ask questions about our herd or our facilities. We have learned, via questions and the Internet, how to build permanent shelters in the pastures, feeders, irrigation methods, water purification methods, and most importantly for us, tax deductions for all these endeavors.
The various farms from which we purchased our alpacas gave us much information and we would like to extend the courtesy.
